We’ll have to wait a little longer.

Summary:

  • The release date of Mickey 17 has been moved to January 2025.
  • The upcoming sci-fi movie from the director of Parasite will star Robert Pattinson.
  • The movie will most likely be a social thriller, as there is not much information about the script for now.

Another sci-fi thriller? Yes, please! Especially if it comes from the highly praised director Bong Joon-ho, the one who created the Oscar-winning hit Parasite.

The new movie with Robert Pattinson called Mickey 17 was supposed to be released on March 29 this year, but because of the delays in the filming process caused by the Hollywood strikes, the date was pushed to January 2025.

Needless to say, people were devastated by the news, because even though there was almost no marketing, fans of science fiction and Bong Joon Ho in particular were really waiting for the mysterious movie to come to light.

What do we know about the movie? Well, not so much. The story at the center of the upcoming flick is loosely based on the novel Mickey7 written by Edward Ashton in 2022. It is about a worker who was sent on an expedition to colonize an ice world.

The main character is going to be played by Pattinson. He will be portraying one of the crew members who are known to be disposable in some way, because of the fact that their bodies can regenerate after death. And even if they die, their mind and memories can be saved. However, everything changes for him once his last regeneration goes wrong...

Besides Pattinson, there will be some other big names like Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo. And the fans have really high expectations for the movie.

“I'm looking forward to it on the strength of the books alone, but throw in Bong Joon-ho and the cast he's assembled and I'm sure it'll be really entertaining - whether it does well at the box office though is another story,” Redditor theseed said.

Well, there are rumors that the delay was a convenient way to make the movie premiere in Cannes. Either way, let's hope there are no more hold-ups.
