The final episode of The Pitt season 1 made fans rethink everything they believed in — here is a breakdown for those who are confused.

It's amazing how a single episode can change everything the whole season has been building up to, but that's exactly what happened on Max’s The Pitt — the new medical drama that has everyone talking.

The season finale turned the tables on a major dynamic between two of the show's important characters. In fact, it looks like the lack of fan love towards Dr. Santos now hits completely different, too.

Spoiler alert: if you haven’t seen The Pitt season 1 episode 15 yet, beware of major spoilers ahead.

Dr. Santos vs. Dr. Langdon: Who Is the Villain Now?

The end of the season brought a lot of revelations and showed how people can change after a single 15-hour shift at the hospital. But there was one pair of doctors who basically swapped roles from where they started in the premiere.

At the beginning of the show, it was Langdon who was portrayed as the cool and calm doctor who always had the answers, and Santos was the one who was hated by everyone – from her colleagues to the real-life viewers of the show. She was depicted as this cold and mean girl who always thinks she knows best and is above all of her co-workers. Nobody likes that, right?

But the finale changed everything: Santos has finally shown a previously unseen compassion for her patients and fellow doctors. This newfound sentiment definitely suits her much better than the bully personality she was given.

Meanwhile, Langdon was also shown from a completely different side. He lashed out at a clearly exhausted Dana while begging her to vouch for him, and then he jumped on Robby at the first sign of weakness. He was completely self-absorbed after Robby discovered his drug problem, but it's a good thing the show didn't show Noah Wyle's character forgiving him right away.

While speaking at Deadline's Contenders TV event, the show’s creator R. Scott Gemmill mentioned that The Pitt season 2 will unfold over the very busy July 4th weekend.

He also added that the second installment will take place 10 months after the season 1 finale. So there’s a lot to expect from it story-wise, especially from Langdon and Santos.
