Have you ever had that moment when you're watching your favorite show, and a new character pops up, making you wonder if you’ve seen them somewhere before. Well, fans of The Rookie might have experienced just that.
In season 3 of The Rookie, we meet Evelyn Nolan, portrayed by the talented Frances Fisher. Evelyn is the mother of the show’s beloved protagonist, Officer John Nolan, and let's just say, she's had her fair share of ups and downs.
Living in Foxburg, Pennsylvania, she's known for her drug dealing and deceptive ways, which is something you certainly don't expect from a cop’s mother. Some fans failed to notice one interesting part about the character — Frances Fisher is no stranger to playing memorable moms.
You might not remember, but you've definitely seen Frances Fisher in one of the all-time classic movies, James Cameron ’s Titanic.
Rewind to 1997, and we find Fisher aboard the ill-fated RMS Titanic, portraying Ruth DeWitt Bukater, the mother of the film's protagonist Rose. Ruth is a character we love to dislike, with her snobbish demeanor and determination to maintain her wealth and social status at any cost.
The resemblance between the two characters is uncanny, and fans couldn't help but marvel at this cinematic connection.
While Ruth DeWitt Bukater was navigating the treacherous waters of high society and trying to secure a wealthy future for her daughter, Evelyn Nolan was dealing with her own set of challenges. Raising John on her own after being abandoned by her husband, Evelyn had a rough time.
Despite their differences, both characters show one thing: Frances Fisher is just an amazing actress.
Unfortunately, John’s mother dies in season 5 of The Rookie, and it’s unlikely that we’ll see Fisher on The Rookie again. But it was still a treat to spot a familiar face in the beloved procedural TV show.
