The So You Think You Can Dance alum accused of trapping dancers at a Trump Jr. event
A dancer alleges performers were booked for an ordinary gig and found themselves on a bill with Donald Trump Jr. — with the exits guarded by their own choreographer.
First, what this story is and isn't. The accusation comes from dancer Nikhil Odeon, whose posts went viral via r/Fauxmoi on Friday; as of this writing, Lauren Gottlieb has not publicly responded, and no major outlet has picked the story up. Everything here rests on his account and should be read that way.
What Odeon alleges: dancers were booked for what was presented as a regular gig, discovered it was an event featuring Donald Trump Jr., and were pressured by Gottlieb — the So You Think You Can Dance season 3 finalist and All-Star who became a genuine Bollywood star through ABCD: Any Body Can Dance — not to walk when they found out. For dancers, that pressure lands differently than it would in most industries: choreographers book the work, and a reputation for walking off sets travels fast.
Booked: an ordinary gig. Delivered: Donald Trump Jr. The allegation is that leaving wasn't a real option.
The pattern this lands in
What gives one dancer's account its traction is that nobody treats the setup as implausible anymore. The commenters processing the story treated it as a recurring mechanism, not a one-off:
"It's not the first time creative have expressed that they experienced a 'bait and switch' when it comes to 'MAGA' performances."

That's the detail I find most telling. Performing for the Trump orbit has become work that has to be disguised to get staffed — the booking equivalent of an unmarked van. Whatever the fee, the going assumption among working performers is that if they'd known, they wouldn't have come, and the people hiring apparently assume the same.

The thread's other discovery was genealogical — commenters flagged that Gottlieb's cousin is Gottmik, the Drag Race star, a family split the internet found almost too neat. That detail, like the rest, comes from the thread rather than any outlet, and it changes nothing about the allegation itself. What would change things is Gottlieb's side of it, which is one statement away from existing.
