Seth Rogen’s The Studio is less than a week away from its first season’s finale, having already given its fans another brilliantly messy episode a couple of days ago.

As Rogen’s Matt Remick tries to keep things together ahead of Continental Studios’ possible downfall just hours before its CinemaCon’s presentation, the hit series has got itself yet another portion of praise from both critics and viewers.

While the first season’s finale will definitely hit this list in several days, here’s what the list of The Studio’s highest-rated episodes looks like so far — in case you desperately need to revisit those hilarious moments which turned into Matt’s biggest nightmare.

7. Season 1 Episode 6 — "The Paediatric Oncologist"

The episode sees Matt’s relationship with his new girlfriend, paediatric oncologist Sarah, going to a new level when he accompanies her to a charity gala.

However, even with Sarah making his Hollywood-ish life a little less chaotic, Matt’s self-esteem of a movie studio boss is soon challenged when he realises the cinema might have nothing against the real impact on Sarah’s work on the society’s well-being.

Things get even more complicated when they clash over the entire definition of art, which later results in yet another epic and not very happy ending of the story.

Offering a satirical view on Hollywood’s desperate attempts to be as diverse and inclusive as possible, this episode witnesses the studio trying to deal with a possible backlash after Ice Cube was cast as the Kool-Aid Man in Continental’s upcoming movie.

While there’s a chance for the company to be shut down amidst racial stereotypes’ reinforcement, Matt embarks on a mission to make some changes and deliver bad news to Ice Cube, which, apparently, doesn’t end well.

5. Season 1 Episode 3 — "The Note"

The episode delves into yet another series of complications for Matt who, after watching the final cut of Ron Howard’s new movie Alphabet City, decides that a motel sequence is way too lengthy for the audiences.

Out of the entire group of Continental’s bosses, it’s Matt who is tasked with delivering the discouraging feedback to Howard, with the former reluctantly trying to find ways to do so without offending the renowned director.

In the episode that celebrates Continental’s achievements at the Golden Globes ceremony, Matt desperately seeks ways to get some acknowledgment for his work, and the only one that seems faisible is actress and director Zoë Kravitz thanking him in her acceptance speech should she win the award.

At some point, the evening goes in a very wrong direction when it’s Matt’s co-worker Sal Saperstein who gets all the praise and gratitude.

Eventually, the funny outcome takes it to another cringy level, highlighting the industry’s obsession with prestigious awards and frequently overlooked contributions of behind-the-scenes industry workers.

3. Season 1 Episode 1 — "The Promotion"

The episode sees Seth Rogen’s Matt Remick suddenly becoming a new head of the Continental Studios after the previous boss and movie vet, Patty Leigh, was fired by new CEO Griffin Mill.

However, Matt’s abilities to run a movie studio are challenged at once, requiring him to find a prominent director for a Kool-Aid Man movie.

Matt’s desperate attempt to prove himself results in a pretty messy beginning of his studio head path and even a ruined relationship with Martin Scorsese.

2. Season 1 Episode 9 — "CinemaCon"

In this episode, The Continental team is off to Las Vegas where they are about to present their film slate, including titles like ‘Kool-Aid: The Movie’ and ‘Blackwing’, at CinemaCon.

As always, things get messy just ahead of a major event, in particular at a pre-party where the team faces the news of Continental’s possible sale to Amazon.

In the meantime, the studio’s CEO Griffin Mill goes on a chaotic journey after consuming psychedelic mushrooms from the old-style Hollywood buffet.

The episode shot in a single take, The Oner sees Matt and Sal visiting the set of Sarah Polley’s next movie starring Greta Lee.

The studio heads’ attempt to participate in the process turns into a series of failures to make the unbroken scene with Lee as the protagonist.

Despite Matt’s presence being lucrative for both Polley and Lee, it eventually results in a pure chaos on set.
