The Ultimate Peach Cobbler: A Classic Summer Dessert for Any Occasion
Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
Though it’s already mid-June and the summer weather can sometimes surprise us with rainy days, there’s nothing bad in heating up the kitchen to make a comforting American classic for your household.
While we usually think of traditional pies when it comes to fruit baking, this peach cobbler offers something special with its tender fruit base topped with soft, biscuit-like dough "cobblestones."
Just toss some ripe yet firm peaches into a baking dish, cover them with the cream-infused batter, and bake until golden brown — the dessert turns out so juicy and fragrant that it might become a frequent guest at your table for the rest of the season.
Here’s what you need: 450 g of canned peaches, 110 g of butter, 125 g of flour, 200 g of sugar, 240 ml of milk, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1 pinch of salt, vanilla ice cream or whipped cream to taste.
Preheat the oven to 175°C. Slice the peaches and set the syrup aside.
Place the butter in a rectangular baking pan. Put the pan in the preheated oven for 3–4 minutes, until the butter has melted and warmed through.
Meanwhile, combine the flour, sugar, milk, baking powder, and salt. Beat the batter well with a whisk.
Pour the prepared batter into the pan with the hot butter and arrange the peaches with the syrup on top. Do not mix!
Bake the cobbler in the preheated oven for 35–45 minutes until golden brown.
Serve the cobbler warm with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream.
