Netflix 's The Umbrella Academy is set to return for its fourth and final season soon, and it looks like it has way more surprises in store for us than we initially thought.

The chaotic Hargreeves family has never been a pinnacle of picture perfect sibling relationship; with these seven, trouble was always around the corner. The family of superhero children was initially supposed to protect the world from threats; instead, they became a threat themselves by constantly triggering apocalyptic events.

Well, one would argue that one particular family member always seemed to be the problem, and it was Viktor Hargreeves, who seems to have the most intimidating kind of powers among them all. In season 1, it was him (although we knew him as Vanya back then) who almost destroyed the world if it wasn't for a last-minute time-travel solution (which still proved to be questionable).

In season 2, it's him again, although he already pulled himself together and learned how to control his powers, and everything is kind of back to normal... until it isn't.

In season 3, things start to get truly complicated. And look who's to blame this time.

Is Allison Hargreeves the True Villain of the Family?

In season 3, Allison Hargreeves, who has the power to basically make anyone do what she likes, kind of shows her true colors. She offers a clear explanation as to why she just wasn't walking around giving bad guys the orders to stop, as we see what happens when she's not careful with her rumoring.

Allison basically almost rapes Luther; besides, thinking that her troubled past is somehow more painful than that of her siblings, she starts believing she deserves better and goes against the family by conspiring with Reginald.

Eventually, it results in the family being thrown into yet another new timeline — the one where Reginald is basically a god and everything revolves around him. All members of The Umbrella Academy are now powerless... except one.

Allison discovers that her daughter is alive and well in this timeline; moreover, so is her husband whom she found back in the past. The Allison we got to see in season 3 is not someone that could let go of that easily, which is why it's fair to assume she will be the villain of the fourth season.

Not only is she the only Umbrella with powers, but her powers are also arguably the most dangerous ones. Viktor may explode moons all he wants, but one whisper from Allison, and he's her puppet; that works for pretty much anyone else unless some kind of immunity to her rumors is established.

It's unclear whether Allison will indeed go full villain era mode in season 4 and if she would even be redeemable if she does, but at this point, such a scenario is pretty plausible.

Basically, the only thing that keeps Allison in check is her morals. If her moral compass snaps, it's unlikely that the Hargreeves family will ever have to worry about restraining Viktor for too long.
