Prepare to learn more quirks of the rich.

Summary:

  • The Vampire Diaries was The CW's young adult vampire series that ran for 8 seasons from 2009 to 2017.
  • Showrunner Julie Plec and star Candice King are reuniting for a new Amazon Prime Video series.
  • Based on E. Lockhart's young adult novel, it will be a thriller that explores the drama within the insanely wealthy Sinclair family.

If there is one thing that Saltburn has taught us all, it’s not to trust incredibly wealthy people, if you don’t want to go completely mad. Whatever you think of the disturbing experience that the thriller was, you have to agree it was entertaining to many people and created a huge following all around the world.

It’s not surprising to see others attempt to dip their toes into this specific niche of the genre and explore the bizarre world of the richest people. What is surprising, however, is to see The Vampire Diaries team reunite to work on a project like that.

Showrunner of The CW iconic young adult series Julie Plec and the star of the show Candice King, who portrayed Caroline Forbes, will be working together on Amazon Prime Video’s new drama, We Were Liars.

We Were Liars Premiere Date

Although the show has already announced all three leads who will portray the Sinclair sisters in the show, there is no information about the filming or possible release. The only guess is that We Were Liars won't premiere before 2025, but other than that, fans will have to stay tuned for more updates.

Accompanied by Mamie Gummer and Caitlin FitzGerald, King will play the youngest of three Sinclair sisters who have a fun tradition of spending their summers on a private island off the coast of Massachusetts. Seemingly perfect, the Sinclairs will experience a life-shattering event that will shatter their family image and reveal the ugly truth.

The show is described as a "tragic love story and amnesia thriller," so it probably won't cross as many lines as Saltburn, but it would still give viewers the same Erie effect from watching each episode.

Julie Plec, who previously worked with Candice King on The Vampire Diaries as well as The Originals and Legacies, is credited as executive producer and writer, and is already set to write the very first introductory episode of the series.

Considering how popular The Vampire Diaries franchise still is, We Were Liars has a very high potential to become a hit as well.

If you are interested in checking out the new Amazon Prime Video thriller, be sure to keep an eye out to be the first to find out its premiere date.
