If you've been watching The Winchesters thinking that Dean is so similar to his mother Mary, then you might want to reconsider after episode 4.

Warning: the following article contains spoilers for The Winchesters episode 4

Yes, John Winchester is Dean Winchester's father, so it's only natural for them to be similar in some ways. But episode 4 of the Supernatural prequel featured a moment that only kind of ruined the similarity vibe between Dean and his mother, but also had fans actually scared for John.

Since the beginning of the show, fans have been going "aww" at how similar Dean and Mary are. In episode 4, John weighs in to deliver some Purgatory!Dean vibes — and he did such a good job that fans are now both scared and awed.

Even the facial expressions look similar, don't they? And after all, we all remember Dean and his love for stakes as a weapon.

But this was not the only moment that showed how similar John and Dean actually are in the Supernatural universe. Fans had a flashback to Dean's aggressive fighting — and they also had a nice touch of the Winchesters' men being unable to show vulnerability.

After all, it turns out that one of the best moments about the Supernatural prequel is the way the show illustrates the parents-kids connection in the iconic hunters family. However, there are still a lot of things about The Winchesters that remain unclear.

For instance, we still don't know whether the show is retconning the original storyline of John and Mary, or if the events of the prequel are unfolding in some kind of an alternative dimension or in the multiverse. It is also unclear whether Dean is alive or the show is taking us back at some point of the Supernatural storyline when he was.

The Winchesters air on The CW on Tuesdays, with the first season to have 13 episodes.
