“A Song of Ice and Fire”’s author might be way late for the next novel’s release, but it’s Game of Thrones’ writers that Andrzej Sapkowski blames even more — here’s why.

George Martin and his fans’ relationships are quickly escalating now that the author has spent more than a decade without much progress on his “A Song of Ice and Fire”, but there’s still some support he gets from his fellow writers.

While Martin is preparing to work on a new movie project not related to the Game of Thrones universe, “The Witcher”’s author Andrzej Sapkowski brought the issue up again, drawing a comparison between him and Martin to console those concerned about “The Witcher”’s future.

However, Sapkowski seemingly threw an even bigger shade on Game of Thrones’ creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.

Andrzej Sapkowski Says He Will Write Another Novel “Unlike George R. R. Martin”

The author has recently made an appearance at the Opole book festival to talk about “The Witcher” and, specifically, its most recent instalment titled “Crossroads of Ravens” and set for an international release this September.

Despite publishing the book just last year, Sapkowski quickly reassured his fans that he might be working on the series’ next novel and added that, unlike George Martin, he will keep the promise no matter what.

“I’ll tell you right now: I will write something else. Relax. No need to fear. And unlike George R. R. Martin, whom, by the way, I know personally, when I say I’ll write something, I will”, the author said at the event, shared by Redanian Intelligence.

However, Sapkowski also suggested he understands Martin’s mixed feelings about proceeding with “A Song of Ice and Fire” since the HBO show went way ahead of the source material, eventually making the author meet a dead end in his writing.

“If it’s already been done, right? Makes no sense. It’s nice when they adapt your work, that’s the author’s bloody right, but to adapt what doesn’t exist yet, to extrapolate like that? That’s just indecent”, Sapkowski revealed.

When Will ‘The Witcher’ Season 4 Release?

Netflix’s hit fantasy drama is now set to return with its long-awaited and already highly criticised fourth season sometime this year, though the streamer is yet to announce the exact premiere date.

The Witcher will no longer be led by Henry Cavill whose role has been taken over by Liam Hemsworth for seasons 4 and 5.
