‘The Witcher’ Fans Roast Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt for One Hilarious Reason
The fourth season of Netflix’s fantasy hit has arrived with Hemsworth as its new lead, and now The Witcher’s fans think only one aspect of Henry Cavill’s performance was way better.
Things have been pretty complicated for Netflix’s The Witcher now that Henry Cavill is replaced by Liam Hemsworth for the rest of the show’s run, but its creators might be surprised by the most frequent complaint the new season is getting.
Having starred as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher’s first three seasons, Henry Cavill announced his departure from the series back in 2023, starting rumours about his possible feud with the show’s creators and eventual decision to concentrate on something else.
Since then, The Witcher’s fans have been concerned about the show that would never be the same from now on, but Liam Hemsworth’s performance now doesn’t seem to be a major problem for fans — rather, it’s a smaller detail that keeps them annoyed.
‘The Witcher’ Fans Can’t Stand Liam Hemsworth’s Voice and Accent as Geralt

Even though many fans predicted their own negative reaction towards Hemsworth’s performance in the show, in the end it didn’t turn out to be so bad, which can’t be said about the actor’s voice though.
A couple of days after The Witcher’s season 4 premiered on Netflix on October 30, the show’s viewers gathered on social media, stating that Hemsworth’s voice doesn’t seem to be a good fit for Geralt and complaining about him changing his accent every ten minutes throughout an episode.
“I'm trying to give Liam Hemsworth a chance but my god I hate his Geralt a lot. The way he talks is genuinely grating”, user erikkain revealed in their post on X.
Critics, however, were a bit harsher on Hemsworth, suggesting his Geralt seems less menacing and way softer than Henry Cavill’s one.
“His Geralt lacks either the physicality or emotional gravitas of Cavill’s, and his thinner voice (Cavill communicated only with a low growl) accentuates this difference. Giving Hemsworth all the grace in the world for stepping into such a difficult role, it’s impossible to avoid feeling like this is a huge downgrade”, The Independent’s Nick Hilton wrote in his review.
‘The Witcher’ Isn’t the Same Anymore — and It’s Not Liam Hemsworth’s Fault

Despite Henry Cavill’s replacement being mostly brought up when a talk about The Witcher’s downgrade emerges, many of the show’s fans now agree that there have been way more problems with it than just the lead’s recast.
On Reddit, The Witcher’s viewers admitted to having given up watching the new season after a couple of episodes just because things seem a lot different from the previous instalments, even without Hemsworth taken into consideration.
“Halfway through episode 1 and something is off. Not just Liam. The tone of the show, characters, dialogue…I feel like it’s an entirely different show”, Redditor MummyBear337 revealed.
“God the writing is abysmal. I’ve read better fanfiction. This is supposed to come from a professional writer? Jesus”, Hyper_Mazino complained.
You can now watch The Witcher’s 4 seasons on Netflix.
