It's genuinely phenomenal just how much Lauren Schmidt Hissrich isn't afraid to bury her show... But we're not really surprised at this point; are you?

As The Witcher- related drama almost died off — save for the everlasting online debates and the terrible score of the last season — people started to let go of the conflict between the series' ex-lead actor Henry Cavill and the showrunner Lauren Hissrich. But lo and behold, it's still not over!

Recently, Hissrich's relatively old interview resurfaced, and Henry Cavill's fans' fury reinvigorated with new passion. In the interview, the showrunner downright calls the actor "annoying" for his enthusiasm to play the part of Geralt in The Witcher!

While the fans are pissed off yet again, it's important to clarify a few things. First of all, Hissrich didn't exactly call Cavill annoying to work with: she was referring to how the actor was bugging her before the script was even ready. Second of all, it happened several years ago, and it doesn't relate to the later conflict between the two...OK, it does, but in a different way.

The thing is, Henry Cavill was overly excited to play Geralt of Rivia, so he started getting at his agents' and the showrunner's nerves really early on. The show wasn't even in pre-production yet, and still, Henry — a huge fan of The Witcher franchise — was demanding a meeting with Hissrich.

“He was really annoying. I finally said, ‘I will meet with you. The show is not green-lit. There is nothing.’ I said, ‘Thank you. Now I have to go write the show,’” shared Lauren Hissrich back in 2019.

Even after having met the showrunner, Cavill was relentless in his quest to perster everyone around him to make sure no one forgot he was the guy for the job.

“It was something I wasn’t going to let pass me by without giving it my best shot. I annoyed my agents all the time. They said, ‘They’re not ready,'" the actor said.

The more she worked on the script, the more Lauren Hissrich was realizing that Henry Cavill was, in fact, the perfect candidate. She still auditioned over 200 other actors, though; then, the role officially went to Cavill. The actor was as excited as a human being could be...for the time being. Then, their conflict with Hissrich and the writers room started shaping.

As you can see, the quote about Henry being annoying had nothing to do with the actor leaving The Witcher after the latest season. Still, it doesn't seem to bother most fans, and those long-forgotten words are coming back to turn everyone against Lauren Hissrich once again coupled with all the controversy surrounding Cavill's exit from the show.
