Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan got candid on their iconic show’s finale.

Summary:

  • In December 2023, CBS announced that Blue Bloods would end with Season 14.
  • Recently, Blue Bloods’ lead actors shared the cast and crew’s thoughts on the cancellation.
  • According to them, the team on Blue Bloods has grown close like a family, so it’s painful to say goodbye.

The upcoming finale of Blue Bloods divided fans into two groups: some are happy to see the show’s “suffering” end, and others are heartbleeding from watching their comfort series of many years go. Both points of view have their supporters, but the cast and crew of Blue Bloods are unanimous in their stance: they don’t want their iconic TV show to end, especially since they’ve all grown so close together.

Blue Bloods Stars Are ‘Upset and Sad’

Donnie Wahlberg, the Danny Reagan actor, has been the most vocal of the cast about the cancellation. The Blue Bloods star has always emphasized the significance of the series for him and other actors and crew, so no one was surprised when in the recent The Drew Barrymore Show episode, Wahlberg claimed that everybody on the set was feeling “more upset and sad” about the finale.

Bridget Moynahan, the Erin Reagan star, supported him and explained why the Blue Bloods team was feeling down making the last episodes of their long-running show.

“It’s more [about] saying goodbye to the people behind the characters [than the show itself]. We’ve created such a family on set with each other and the crew — most of the crew’s been with us for 14 years, so we’ve been through a lot of weddings, births, deaths, and everything. We’ve been through it all with each other,” Moynahan shared.

Blue Bloods Finale Seems Set in Stone

Apart from Wahlberg and Moynahan, another Blue Bloods cast member has always made his position about the show’s continuity clear. Tom Selleck, the legendary TV actor who plays Frank Reagan in the series, said that he’d keep the show going as long as his colleagues and fans would want him to, regardless of anything else.

After CBS announced Blue Bloods cancellation, Selleck has also been vocal about it: the actor claimed he’d fight to keep it going on several occasions. Unfortunately, it looks like even his star power will not be enough to change executives’ minds, and Season 14 will be the finale of Blue Bloods, for better or worse.
