Watch These 5 Shows With The Last of Us Vibe Before It Returns With Season 2

The long wait is almost over, though there’s still a list of similar options you can consider in the upcoming couple of weeks.
After a break of roughly two years, HBO’s post-apocalyptic hit The Last of Us is back on track with its second season premiering on April 13.
With Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal reprising their roles, the series is set to introduce a handful of new characters who will likely push the storyline towards another tragic turning point.
While fans of the original video game and the show itself still have to wait for a couple of weeks more, other series with a tone similar to The Last of Us might be a great help for those who need to fill the void with something until the hit show’s next instalment arrives on small screens.
Station Eleven (2021)
Another dystopian fiction conveniently stored on Max, Station Eleven will become a perfect watch for The Last of Us’ fans who seek a similar narrative of a group of survivors trying to rebuild their life after the rest of humanity was wiped off the earth.
Station Eleven stars Mackenzie Davis as a young woman joining a band of travelling performers amidst the chaos caused by a deadly flu pandemic.
Just like any other classic post-apocalyptic series, this one will also see its characters encountering something (or someone) truly gruesome that eventually unravels the connection to one of the troupe members.
The Last Man On Earth (2015)
Created by and starring Will Forte, this series offers a bit less pessimistic perspective of the entire world’s collapse, though can still give its new viewers some chills due to its ability to, well, predict the 2020 pandemic.
With the events set in 2022, The Last Man On Earth sees the planet shattered almost a year after an outbreak of a deadly virus, leaving Phil Miller the only surviving person in the nearby area.
Desperate to find at least someone who would make him feel less lonely, Phil travels across several countries, finally crossing paths with another survivor who, luckily, turns out to be a woman. However, when more people start showing up on their way, Phil realises he would have been much better all by himself after all.
Falling Skies (2011)
Going back to gloomier sci-fi dystopian shows, Falling Skies might serve as another vision of events when it comes to humanity preparing to protect the Earth from an alien invasion.
The series follows Boston history professor Tom Mason who finds his own incentive to fight against the extraterrestrial creatures when his wife is killed in the initial attack.
Accompanied by one of his sons and several other survivors, Tom makes some use of his military history knowledge to learn more about the aliens and come up with a plan of a counterattack. However, nothing soon goes according to this plan as the invaders turn out to be a highly intelligent race with a very specific purpose here on Earth.
Into the Badlands (2015)
Perfect for fans of both sci-fi and martial arts genres, Into the Badlands is a gripping character drama decorated with numerous action-packed sequences and stunning visuals.
The show follows ruthless and skilled warrior Sunny who takes on the role of a mentor for teenage boy M.K., embarking on a spiritual journey in a feudal civilisation known as Badlands.
With the area traditionally ruled by several powerful barons, the overall tension starts rising once a newcomer, The Widow, sees M.K. as a tool for her success. Determined to not let the rulers take advantage of them, Sunny and M.K. have to find a way to cooperate in order to survive.
The 100 (2014)
Still regarded as one of the best post-apocalyptic shows of recent years, The 100 is based on a novel series of the same name and follows a hundred survivors traveling back to Earth almost a century after a nuclear apocalypse.
However, the travellers are caught off guard when they realise the lost humanity’s descendants are still inhabiting the planet after somehow rebuilding their life there.
Having been born in space, the hundred know nothing about Earth which seems like a truly terrifying place; still, they have no other choice but to explore the unknown once the space ark they used to live on isn’t suitable for them anymore.
