'Wednesday' Fan Spots a Nice 'Dexter' Reference in Season 2

Tim Burton’s hit show is back with even darker themes to explore, and one brief scene at Willow Hill Psychiatric Facility has Dexter’s eagle-eyed fans raving about a possible cross-over.
Though it took three months for Wednesday and three years for the show’s fans to reach this point, things are back to normal (or quite the opposite) in Nevermore Academy where Wednesday’s season 2 takes its eponymous character after the summer break.
Now all grown-up and ready to face whatever secrets the school still has to hide, Wednesday is about to delve into even more terrifying details of the life of her peers, especially Tyler who is now imprisoned at Willow Hill Psychiatric Facility.
In fact, the mental hospital gets a fair share of attention in the brand new season and seemingly features a brief reference to a criminal drama series Dexter.
‘Wednesday’ Fans Can’t Unsee Christian Camargo in Season 2 Short Scene
Those might be different movie universes, but Wednesday still seemingly paid some kind of homage to Showtime’s hit criminal drama while exploring the same theme of serial killers and their portrayal.
On Reddit, a fan shared a screenshot of a brief scene that features several pictures of people that at some point spent some time in Willow Hill Psychiatric Facility.
Among all the photos, one drew special attention of Dexter's fans who quickly admitted that the guy in the picture looks almost exactly like Christian Camargo.
In Dexter, the actor portrayed Brian Moser, Dexter’s biological brother and one of main antagonists who schemed against the leading character and murdered people, mostly prostitutes, under the name of “Ice Truck Killer”.
Some Fans Feel Like ‘Wednesday’ Entire Season 2 Was Inspired by ‘Dexter’
Now that the first half of the season is out there for everyone to check out, it’s pretty clear that Wednesday will now dive into many more various themes not really related to the supernatural, like serial killers and ordinary people’s hideous secrets that make them outright monsters.
Some fans even guessed so before the episodes were released, with the first sneak peek being the scene where Wednesday encounters the serial killer she’s been obsessed with for years before.
“When I saw the scene from the new trailer of her tied up with the dolls, I thought: Ok, so she’s found another one and is playing victim to catch them. “Let’s play dolls.” Looks like just another day at the office for her”, Redditor rogvortex58 revealed in a thread several months ago.
Meanwhile, four episodes of Wednesday’s season 2 can now be streamed on Netflix while four more will arrive on September 3.
