Fans are once again afraid that Steve Harrington will die in the season 4 finale, and the show's creators decided to weigh in on the possibility.

Steve, played by Joe Keery, was introduced back in the first season, and was initially considered quite disliked by most 'Stranger Things ' fans. But after the redemption arc shown that season and his struggle with babysitting in season 2, fans began to love this charming heartthrob, urging the Duffer Brothers not to get rid of him. The first seven episodes of the last season proved to be quite eventful for Steve: he ventured to the Upside Down and suffered from wounds inflicted by the Demobats. With only two episodes left until the end of season 4, fans can't wait to learn about the fate of their favorite character, and it looks like the Duffer Brothers are ready to give some answers.

Talking to TV Line, the showrunners touched on the possibility of Steve's death and praised the fandom for their strong feelings about Keery's character.

"Everybody's always worried about Steve. I love it. We always have to beat Steve up somehow, so certainly the Demobats have done that job pretty well already this season," Matt Duffer said.

"It feels wrong to say 'excited,' but I'm excited that people are concerned. And they should be concerned going into the final two episodes [of Season 4] — for everybody," Ross Duffer added.

Fans are clearly concerned about the upcoming few episodes, expecting Steve to either die or suffer an even worse fate.

"I've been thinking Steve will either die, or become sort of mind-flayer vessel for Season 5, purely because of the bites by the demon bats." – /KevlarMak.

Some are even referring to the early trailers for season 4, finding evidence there that Steve is not going to die.

"If Steve really was in danger, why would they spoil it in the trailer. It’s a red herring from the duffer brothers to make us think Steve is in trouble." – /anOnyMousuSErip.

'Stranger Things' season 4 volume 2 will arrive on Netflix on July 1, 2022.
