If there is anything more appropriate to do in Romania in fall, let us know; but right now, we believe that a Wednesday tour across the country is just what the doctor ordered.

If you want to visit some of the most iconic locations from Tim Burton's newest gothic hit, here is a must-see list of Romanian sights — many of them are located in the country's capital, Bucharest.

The Politehnica University

The Romanian capital city can be spotted several times over the course of the series. For instance, in the first episode, when Wednesday is expelled from school for unleashing piranha at her classmates, it's actually set in The Politehnica University.

Botanical Gardens and Casa Monteoru

Bucharest's Botanical Gardens are the greenhouse from Nevermore Academy, while its interiors have been shot in Casa Monteoru — a national monument that was once the headquarters of the Union of Writers of Romania. How appropriate for Wednesday, an aspiring writer!

Casa Niculescu-Dorobantu

Another Wednesday location in Bucharest is Casa Niculescu-Dorobantu. Thanks to its neo-gothic style it served as a perfect location to film some of the Nevermore Academy interiors.

Cantacuzino Castle

But enough of Bucharest! Let's head out, and our next stop will be Cantacuzino Castle. One look at it will be enough for a Wednesday fan to recognize the exterior of the Nevermore Academy — even though in real life it does look a lot more appealing. The castle was built for Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino in the beginning of the 20th century, and is open for visitors.

Lakes Brănești and Sterbei

Remember the Edgar Allan Poe lake race? The competition between the four Nevermore factions (forgive us for almost saying "Hogwarts houses" here...) was filmed on two of Romania's lakes, Brănești and Sterbei. In real life, they're known as popular fishing spots, and not battlefields for the Nevermore students.
