Which kid is in VisionQuest? The showrunner already shot down the twin everyone spotted in episode 1
Wanda had two sons, and Marvel has now cast both. VisionQuest has only shown you one of them so far, whatever your freeze-frame says.
VisionQuest premiered on Disney+ on October 13, 2026, with Paul Bettany's Vision on the road and a speedster in the passenger seat who remembers being his son. The obvious next question was where the other twin is, and fans thought they'd found him in the first episode. Showrunner Terry Matalas has since explained exactly who they found.
The kid who's definitely in it: Tommy
Ruaridh Mollica plays Tommy Maximoff, one of the twins Wanda conjured in WandaVision. When the Westview hex collapsed, Tommy's soul didn't vanish. It landed in Thomas Shepherd, a London orphan and small-time grifter, and that's who Vision meets: a con artist with super-speed and two sets of memories.
Mollica's own MCU history has a twist in it. He's said the first Marvel role he nearly got was Billy, the twin who went to Joe Locke.
The twin everyone spotted: Billy
Billy Maximoff got his own resurrection in Agatha All Along in 2024, where Locke played him as William Kaplan, a teenager whose body Billy's soul had taken over. By that finale, Billy had become Wiccan in everything but the costume and headed off to look for his brother.

So when the VisionQuest premiere sent Tommy and his partner in crime, Lisa, walking through London after a theft, fans paused the frame. In two separate shots, a figure in the background looks a lot like Locke, Forbes' Paul Tassi pointed out. The theory spread fast, and it wasn't the only Billy theory going. Some fans also had him pegged as the Client, the unseen figure who hired the mercenary Paladin.
What Matalas said
Matalas shut both down in an interview with New Rockstars, per ComicBook.com:
- The Borough Market sighting: "It's an extra." The figure was a background actor who happened to have a very similar haircut and hoodie.
- The Client: "It's not Billy." He added that it's also not Mephisto or Tony Stark.
On the Borough Market extra, he was even more direct.
"Billy is not walking around Borough Market."
— Terry Matalas, showrunner, to New Rockstars
He also gave the line that best sums up the show's approach to fan theories: "It's not that kind of story."

So is Billy in VisionQuest at all?
Probably, just not where people were looking. Mollica told Entertainment Tonight that shooting with Locke "was amazing," Screen Rant noted, which is as close to a confirmation as a Marvel actor gets before air. Locke also showed up at the show's London premiere on October 12 as a special guest. Billy still isn't in the announced cast, and Marvel hasn't said which episode he turns up in.
Marvel cast Wanda's two sons, put one in the show and let fans find the other in a hoodie at Borough Market. The real Billy is apparently holding out for a better entrance than a crowd shot.
VisionQuest runs eight episodes, with the finale, "Forever," arriving on November 11. If the twins get their reunion this season, there aren't many episodes left to stage it in.
