Every YA summer show is legally required to have a love triangle, and Sterling Point filed its paperwork early: Ellis, the quiet marina boy who communicates in meaningful glances and hand-drawn gifts, versus Rory, the rich former classmate who communicates in tequila shots and impeccable timing (derogatory).
The answer: it's Ellis
After a full season of will-they-won't-they, episode 7 finally detonates the tension with a kiss in a closet, and from there Annie and Ellis are basically inseparable through the end of summer. By the finale, when Annie decides to stay on the island instead of going back to New York, Ellis has quietly moved from "point in the pro column" to the pro column. No labels, no grand declaration — very on brand for a boy whose love language is a drawing of two people in a canoe — but the choice is made. She stays. He's there.
Rory, for the record, gets shipped back to the city with his feelings and his boat shoes.
Before Team Rory logs off forever
Megan Park would like a word. Asked about the triangle's future, she told Swooon (via Capital FM) that Rory and Annie share the same trauma, the same expectations, the same city-kid wiring — and then said the quiet part:
"There's always going to be a chance for a Rory pop-up."
So yes, Annie ends season 1 with Ellis. And yes, the creator is already loading the chaos cannon for season 2. Everybody stay calm.
