The original Marvel comics are replete with interesting heroes and villains, and it's a shame that so far only a fraction of them have made their big-screen MCU debut. But it looks like one particular big-brained villain will appear in the upcoming Chris Pratt-led film.
The character in question is known by the alias High Evolutionary, indicating the supervillain's immense power and even greater ego. The High Evolutionary made his comic book debut nearly 60 years ago and has since fought everyone from Thor and the Fantastic Four to Galactus and Thanos.
Before receiving this devilishly sounding name, the villain was known as Herbert Wyndham, a biologist of extraordinary intelligence. Obsessed with developing a new race of humans completely devoid of superpowers, Wyndham created a planet known as Counter-Earth, where a new race of humans flourished under his rule. After a clash with Thanos, the enraged titan destroyed the peaceful world of High Evolutionary, killing millions of his subjects. In response, Wyndham created a new breed of humans known as the New Men, who looked like humanoid animals but possessed impressive intelligence.
The scientist was also responsible for creating many powerful Marvel characters, including Scarlet Witch and Adam Warlock, who will play important role in the upcoming 'Guardians of the Galaxy 3'.
In light of recent behind-the-screen footage from the filming of the upcoming movie, High Evolutionary's involvement is confirmed almost 100%. BTS pics show a multitude of extras, disguised as humanoid animals, roaming the streets of what looks like Counter-Earth. Perhaps the connection between Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) and High Evolutionary will be explored in detail in James Gunn's anticipated space opera.
Recent rumors also point to the actor who will embody the iconic villain, with frequent Gunn collaborator Chukwudi Iwuji being named as the most reasonable choice for the role.
'Guardians of the Galaxy 3' will hit theatres on May 23, 2023.
