Who wins in Is It Cake? Halloween
Nine bakers walked into Netflix's spookiest sound stage. One walked out with the title, thanks to a headstone you could eat and a gummy bear that deserves criminal charges for fraud.
Is It Cake? Halloween is exactly what it says on the tin: the fake-out baking show, but in costume.
Mikey Day hosts, as ever, presiding over four episodes that dropped on October 8, 2025 — "Cakes to Die For!," "Gettin' Witchy with It," "Is It Wonka?" and "A Scary Good Winner." Nine cake artists were split into three trios, each heat sent its winner to the finale, and the finale handed out the cash and the title of Is It Cake? Halloween Champion.
The stakes were not abstract, either — contestant Ronique Briggs said on the show she was competing to put a down payment on a home for her family. Sonny Robinson brought his husband as his whole motivation; Brad Lamb competed for the honor of three kittens named Theo, Judy and Otho. Reality TV is a rich text.

The champion
The confetti — and the crown — went to Andrea Ortiz Fuentes, a Chilean-born, Vancouver-based luxury cake artist who moved to Canada at 24 specifically to bake for a living. Mission spectacularly accomplished.
Her ticket to the finale was a hyper-realistic gummy bear replica that fooled the judges into doubting candy itself.
A gummy bear is already a lie about a bear. Ortiz Fuentes made a lie about the lie, and it worked. This show is a Russian nesting doll of deception and I respect it completely.
The winning cake, autopsy report
For the finale, with fellow baker Regina Walker assisting, she built a Grim Reaper headstone — a tall, structurally cursed build that stayed upright out of spite and looked pulled straight out of a cemetery. The twist was inside:
- pineapple cake layers,
- filled with manjar — the Chilean caramel she grew up on,
- dressed as granite, because Halloween.
Judges bought the look and the flavor, which is the whole game: fool the eye, then reward it for being fooled.
Where that leaves her
Back in Vancouver, Ortiz Fuentes runs her one-woman luxury cake operation — she bakes, sculpts, photographs and markets everything herself, with an Instagram portfolio (Cinderella carriages, Chanel bags, Victorian gardens) that reads like a flex account for frosting. Add "first-ever Is It Cake? Halloween champion" to the résumé, and note that the spin-off is already renewed — someone gets to defend nothing, because in this franchise the champion just wins and vanishes into legend, like a ghost. Fitting.
