House is arguably one of the most popular medical dramas ever created. Premiering in 2004 on Fox, the show has an 89% Rotten Tomatoes score from critics and an even more impressive 96% from viewers. The show follows a rather eccentric main character, Dr. House, who, while extremely talented, is best remembered for his antisocial and mean behavior towards everyone.

The comparatively new medical drama that is number one among fans of the genre today is definitely HBO's The Pitt. And the change in the protagonists is what makes the fans love the show so much. The show has an impressive 93% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and an 81% rating from viewers.

Why Is The Pitt’s Main Character Better Than Dr. House?

While much praised for its accuracy and raw depiction of the tough life of doctors at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital, the show has gained its popularity mostly for the characters it has. And of course, the one we are highlighting is Noah Wyle's Dr. Robby.

Fans of House are used to the lead doctor being sarcastic and kind of antisocial, and frankly, that's what made him an interesting character. But while Dr. Gregory House was still a talented professional, his people skills were so terrible that we doubt anyone would have wanted him as their doctor in real life.

Dr. Robby, on the other hand, is a caring, empathetic man who doesn't abuse his patients or colleagues. Like House, he's intelligent and skilled, but he doesn't get carried away. Of course, that doesn't mean he can't be tough, and the last episode proved that, but he still chooses peace over bullying.

Robby is not an entirely nice character. He definitely has his moments of anger and frustration, and he will yell at a coworker when necessary, but he will also not give anyone a chance to do him wrong.
