The recently released TV spot for Volume 2 may have just hinted at the impending death of Winona Ryder's beloved heroine.

First part of Season 4, released at the end of May, proved to be the most action-packed 'Stranger Things ' outing to date, with a new villain, Vecna, and a huge amount of time spent in the Upside Down. But it looks like the upcoming Volume 2 could be even more exciting, with two oversized episodes preparing to change the lives of Hawkins' inhabitants once and for all. A TV spot showing some of the upcoming events proved fertile ground for theories and premonitions, and none was as terrifying as this – Joyce may die in Volume 2.

In a discussion on Reddit, fans analyzed the clip second by second, trying to decipher the secret meaning behind it. Some observant users pretty quickly noticed one touching scene – Will and Jonathan Byers hugging each other and crying hard. What could be the cause of their tears? Perhaps something bad could happen to their mother Joyce that would leave the boys parentless.

"What if it’s Joyce? And that’s why will and Jonathan are crying and hugging? I don’t think they’d kill Joyce but after watching that I really don’t know anymore," – /SnooDrawings4786.

Of course, this is all just a theory, and the boys' tears could be the result of almost anything, including Will's long-awaited coming out as gay. Could it be that those tears are happy ones? And to further debunk this theory, one Redditor noted that killing Joyce right after she saved Hopper would have been a very unpleasant way to end her storyline.

'Stranger Things' season 4 volume 2 will arrive on Netflix on July 1.
