Will ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Return for Season 6? Here’s What That Cliffhanger Means for the Show’s Future

Another crime mystery might be gone with Only Murders in the Building’s season 5 that wrapped on Tuesday night, but there’s certainly more to come for Charles, Oliver and Mabel’s true crime podcast.

In this instalment, the trio spent 10 episodes investigating the murder of Arconia’s beloved doorman Lester who was found dead in the backyard fountain in the fourth season’s finale.

It didn’t take long after the case was closed to bring yet another possible investigation right at the Arconia doorstep, which means the show is to continue with at least one more season — so far, however, it’s not all that simple.

Will ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Have Season 6?

At the moment, Hulu hasn’t yet announced anything regarding the show’s possible season 6, though this instalment’s finale explicitly implies that there’s no way for Only Murders in the Building to end things just like this (spoilers for season 5 ending ahead!).

In the fifth season’s last episode released just hours ago, a character from the previous instalments is brought back to Arconia when a seemingly unknown woman collapses at the building’s doorstep and eventually dies.

It’s then revealed that the woman (or should we say) the victim for the next season is none other than Tina Fey’s Cinda Canning, a true crime podcast host whose new investigation in London is recounted in Canning’s new project titled “The Girl with the Curls”.

Since it’s become Only Murders in the Building’s tradition to kill off a character in a season’s finale to make the entire investigation about them in the next one, the chances are that the show’s season 6 will be announced shortly after this instalment’s conclusion.

‘Only Murders in the Building’ Possible Season 6 Might Move to a Different Location

Even though the show’s title suggests otherwise, murders didn’t always happen in the building, and season 5’s cliffhanger hints at another time when Charles, Oliver and Mabel will investigate somewhere else outside of Arconia — and even New York.

Since Cinda Canning is somehow linked to the murder investigation occurring in London, it’s likely that the leading trio will have to leave the US for the British capital to dive deeper into what happened to the crime podcast host.

So far, the rumours are spreading about different European locations, with most of them pointing to London, though Only Murders in the Building’s fans better wait for Hulu’s official announcement and more details about a potential new season.
