It seems that Star Wars is finally embracing the more mature aspects of its universe.

The Acolyte, an upcoming TV series set in the Star Wars universe, is moving steadily toward its release, and details about the projects continue to pop up here and there.

And some rather interesting new additions to the crew might indicate that the show might contain some steamy details.

Recently, it was revealed that Adelaide Waldrop will be a Lead Intimacy Coordinator on the series, suggesting that romance will be present in the story.

Intimacy coordinators are typically hired for projects to help choreograph and coach talent through romantic scenes, ensuring that the actors are comfortable while filming.

While such an addition does not automatically guarantee the presence of a sex scene, recent developments in this area by another Star Wars show might suggest otherwise.

The Andor TV series, which debuted at the end of 2022, was a pioneer in bringing the sexual aspect of the galaxy far, far away to our screens.

Its debut episode opened with a scene in a brothel on the planet Morlana One, with Cassian asking one of the hosts if she had seen his sister.

This tendency continued throughout the season, with two other scenes that clearly suggest an imminent and recent sexual encounter, adding to the mature tone of the show's storyline.

While no such scenes have been shown in their entirety, it certainly seems that Star Wars is taking steps in that direction.

However, not everyone is happy with this turn of events. Some fans are expressing their concerns, as Twitter user realswinfinite commented:

"I remember George Lucas explaining to make Star Wars for the kids, because they matter most… how much intimacy does this have that it needs a coordinator? I have a BAD feeling about this."

Anyway, fans will have to wait until the show is released to see if this addition was for the better or for the worse.

But considering that it is described as a crime drama/mystery thriller, perhaps the addition of the first Star Wars sex scene will fit in with the supposedly dark and mature themes of the series.

After all, Andor's additions fit well into its narrative.

The Acolyte is scheduled for release on Disney Plus in 2024.
