The Witcher Season 3 is not to be released until the middle of 2023 and it is the series' spin-off The Witcher: Blood Origin, which gets most of attention.

But we still keep getting news about the next season from the showrunners. In one of her recent interviews with Entertainment Weekly, the series' executive producers Lauren Hissrich has said that Season 3 of The Witcher will be very book-accurate.

"What is so interesting is that season 3, to me, is the closest thing that we've done as a one-to-one adaptation of the books," Hissrich has told EW.

At the same time, she has said that they could not do every page but Time of Contempt gave them a lot of big action events, plot points and defining character moments. "There's so much to do that we were able to stick really, really closely with the books," the showrunner has revealed.

Speaking about the storyline in Season 3 Hissrich has said that to her it looks like "the most heroic sendoff". Geralt of Rivia will have to stop being neutral and he will need to do his best to get to Ciri – this is what Hissrich described as "the most heroic sendoff that we could have, even though it wasn't written to be that".

The fact that Hissrich opened up on the upcoming season 3 saying it would be the closest to Andrzej Sapkowski's books sounds promising indeed. Previously, it was reported that Henry Cavill allegedly left the Netflix 's project over his disagreements with the writers' room because they failed to respect the source material. The books mean a lot to Cavill and he was allegedly tired of fighting with the show's writers. And now the showrunners says that Season 3 is the most book-accurate!

Season 3 of The Witcher will be the last one starring Henry Cavill who passed the torch to Liam Hemsworth. Hissrich has said many times that the actor will be great as Geralt and that Season 4 will become popular with the franchise fans. There were also rumors among the fans that Cavill could potentially return as Geralt because his Superman comeback in the DCU was scrapped by DC Studios boss James Gunn. But Hissrich never corroborated those rumors.

It's interesting to know whether what Hissrich believes is "book-accurate" is exactly what The Witcher's fans believe is "book-accurate". It seems that there can be a problem. Anyway, we need to be patient as we'll find it out only when Season 3 is released in summer 2023.
