Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 is the show’s grand finale, and even without Kevin Costner, there’s a plethora of intriguing and exciting stories it has to uncover.

5. John Dutton: Death, Impeachment, or Both?

Kevin Costner is out of the picture for Yellowstone and so is John Dutton. The real question is, how will Taylor Sheridan write off his former lead star’s character? There are several routes the Yellowstone creator could choose, and considering how no one will be happy with John’s absence anyway, we’re curious to see what he picks.

On the one hand, the Duttons are currently involved in a conflict with the leaders of Broken Rock Reservation. On the other, there’s Jamie who went full rogue on his family. And if we were to have a third hand, we’d use it to point out that John Dutton is on the verge of impeachment as Montana's governor. Just how will he go down?

4. Jamie, Beth, & Rip: Love, Hate, and Guns

Jamie and Beth’s mutual hatred led to the most brutal sibling rivalry to have ever happened on screen, and it will have to end by the finale. As Jaime is trying to bring the Duttons down, Beth is adamant in her decision to stay by Papa John’s side; the conflict runs too deep now, and a resolution is required. But how will it happen?

Seeing how Beth and Jamie’s hate started when the latter sterilized his sister and her beloved Rip still doesn’t know about it, we could totally see Rip killing Jaime after he learns the truth. At the same time, it could even happen after Jaime drops John Dutton as we mentioned above! Either way, the stakes are high for Beth and Jaime.

3. Visions and Prophecies: Do They Matter or Not?

In Season 4, Kayce had a series of visions that seemed to predict the Duttons’ future in a mysteriously symbolic way. Some of them have already come true, but the owl and the girl in white imply tragic deaths but happy resolutions in the finale. Will Kayce’s visions come true — and in which way? Have they even mattered all along?

Another “Did It Matter?” comes in the form of the Yellowstone Ranch prophecy from the prequel 1883. When the OG Duttons were choosing the land for their ranch, the elder of the local Indigenous Crow people told them, “In seven generations my people will rise up and take it back from you.” Now, we have a Reservation conflict.

2. Yellowstone Ranch Ownership: Tate or Reservation?

If we are to take the Yellowstone Ranch prophecy and the Broken Rock Reservation conflict seriously, we have to admit that the future ownership of the territory hangs in the air now. Will the Reservation folks win and take over the ranch? Will the Duttons strike back strongly enough against both their enemies and the prophecy?

Or, perhaps, the prophecy will come into play in a different way. Tate Dutton is the promised seventh generation of the family, but he’s both a Dutton and Indigenous. Potentially, the Reservation conflict will somehow lead to Tate taking over the Yellowstone Ranch, thus both completing the prophecy and keeping things tame.

1. Yellowstone Fate: Deaths, Plots, and…Sequels

The ultimate question about Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 is, of course, the final death toll. It’s crystal clear that much blood will be shed, and the one thing we’re all striving to learn is whose blood it will be. A lot of characters are going to die in the grand finale, and the Yellowstone ending is not the only reason why it matters.

There’s information that a sequel TV show titled 2024 has already been ordered, and it’s bound to be a direct sequel to Yellowstone. This means that any of the characters who survive the finale of the original series might lead their own show in the near future, and some Yellowstone storylines might even remain unresolved for that.
