Character development is something the writers decided to skip for some reason.

Summary:

  • Yellowstone is one of the best westerns ever made on television.
  • There are a lot of characters that fans feel didn't get what they really deserved on the show.
  • Jamie is the most underrated character who earned a much better story than he got.

Taylor Sheridan ’s Yellowstone is a TV series that keeps the viewers glued to the screens, and there’s no wonder why: the complicated characters along with the most uncanny scenarios going on the show is an ultimate recipe for success.

The story in the series is revolving around the Dutton family, with the head of the family being Kevin Costner’s John Dutton, the man who made it all possible, the “ruler” of the Yellowstone ranch and all the lands his family got from Native Americans of the Broken Rock Indian Reservation.

While his character definitely raises a lot of questions, there are several others who have no less questionable personalities. Take Beth, for example: we dare you to find a single Reddit thread with Yellowstone in the title that doesn’t have some sort of “we hate Beth” message.

But there is one character that fans feel didn't get what he really deserved on the show and that is Jamie Dutton.

He started out as this badass lawyer, ready to take on anyone, but as the story went on, he became this little father's boy, constantly looking for approval for everything he did.

All the stories that Jamie got on the show were never meant to make him better, but to make him more miserable than he already was.

“I think his character development got thrown off the rails when he found out he was adopted. He went from the black sheep to some odd outsider. John always referred to him as “his son” but then just shunned him,” Redditor sardoodledom_autism said.

There's a chance, though, that maybe the last part of the show will find a way to finally give him all the credit he really deserves for all these years, and give him a redemption arc now that he's a high-priced lawyer again.

Yellowstone seasons 1 through 5 are available to stream on Prime. Season 5 part 2 will be released in November 2024.
