Dominic McLaughlin and Nick Frost are currently set to star in HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter reboot series, but there’s something else where you can see the actors together before the show’s first season arrives.
It’s almost time for Hogwarts to accept its new students for several years to come as HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter show was confirmed to have started its production just last week, uniting the leading characters’ actors on set for the first time.
The TV show will allegedly come as a more faithful adaptation of JK Rowling’s hit book series, with the first season focusing entirely on its first instalment, “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”.
Particularly, the actors were already witnessed filming the first scenes of Harry and Hagrid’s encounter, though for Dominic McLaughlin and Nick Frost it might not be the first meeting at all.
Dominic McLaughlin and Nick Frost Already Starred Together in ‘Grow’
Even though the movie itself isn’t out yet, it’s still likely to arrive much earlier than Harry Potter’s first season which is currently slated for a 2027 release.
Grow, set to be released sometime this year, will become the first feature to unite McLaughlin and Frost.
However, Harry Potter’s fans might also find something Harry Potter-ish in the upcoming comedy film since it’s a story about, well, a pumpkin farmer whose unruly niece discovers an almost magical talent that will help her win a pumpkin-growing contest.
Not much else is known about Grow right now, but McLaughlin and Frost are believed to portray characters named Arlo and Oliver Gregory respectively.
Nick Frost Says He Isn’t Going to Replicate Robbie Coltrane’s Hagrid
Now that fans have seen how much of a difference there is between Frost and Coltrane’s portrayals after HBO’s recent first look reveal, it seems like the former actor might also bring something completely new and unusual to the character.
“While I'm really aware of what went before me in terms of Robbie [Coltrane]'s amazing performance, I'm never going to try and be Robbie. I'm going to try and do something, not ‘different,’ I think you have to be respectful to the subject matter, but within that, there's scope for minutia”, Frost revealed in an interview with Collider back in June.
This, however, doesn’t mean that new Hagrid won’t embody all the most beloved traits that Coltrane’s version captivated millions with, which is why Frost is determined to explore Hagrid’s nature from all sides possible.
“I think the beauty of being able to do a book a season means I get to explore that a lot more, and I can't wait. He's funny! I want it to be funny and cheeky and scared and protective and childlike. That's what I'm planning on doing”, the actor added.
