The precious trilogy is coming to the big screens again!

Summary:

  • Tolkien’s epic trilogy will be screened by Fathom Events in the remastered and extended versions in June.
  • It’ll be a big event for LOTR fans, who are eager to see it in theaters.

Back in 2001, Peter Jackson changed the whole movie adaptation game with the first chapter of his epic saga, based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s fantasy saga. Although there are some alterations from the original, The Lord of the Rings movies are still considered not only the best adaptation ever filmed, but even the most impeccable film series of all time.

Millions of fans around the world rewatch the trilogy every year or more often, without getting tired of exploring the world of Middle-earth at all. Luckily, some of them will get the chance to see it not only on the big screen, but also in a different version.

It has been reported Warner Bros. and Fathom Events are going to rerelease Jackson’s cultish saga in the extended and remastered editions on June 8-10. The films will screen across three days at Fathom Events participating chains, like Cinemark, AMC and Regal.

Thus, it will be the first time for the world to see the trilogy in the best quality, prepared by Jackson for a 4K Ultra HD rerelease in 2020. As for the duration of the extended versions, be sure you’ll need the biggest popcorn tub. The third chapter, The Return of the King, lasts a shocking 263 minutes, a 4-hour and 23-minute cinema pleasure.

“Time to dust off my ol’ Endgame catheter for this,” jokes Redditor @riegspsych325 about the extended cut, which is, however, more valuable for true LOTR fans, as it brings a whole lot of necessary details to the story, told in the original cut.

The Internet’s overall reaction to this news is easy to imagine, and no words can fully describe our common happiness with receiving a possibility to see the trilogy in theaters since long ago or even for the first time, especially in case of younger fans.

“I can't properly explain what it was like seeing Fellowship in theaters on opening night. It was one of those things that was lightning in a bottle. Magical. Everyone walked out feeling great,” @Bubbly_Ad_2021 recalls the essential moment of cinema history.

Every LOTR admirer will agree that in spite of watching these movies numerous times, it’ll be clearly a thing to see it on the big screen. You can purchase tickets for the upcoming screenings on the Fathom Events website.
