The list of Wednesday’s star’s accolades includes two nods from the TV Academy, but these aren’t for the roles you might be thinking about.

Christina Ricci has had a career span of over 30 years, and she’s actually much more than just Wednesday from 1991’s The Addams Family.

Having started out in the movie industry at the age of 10, Ricci went on to receive countless accolades for earlier independent projects like 2002’s Pumpkin and 2003’s Monster, as well as for her guest role in Grey’s Anatomy and the role of Misty Quigley in Yellowjackets.

For the last two, the actress received two Emmy nominations which, however, she didn’t win.

Still, Ricci got more nominations from other prestigious awards for the role of Laurel Gates aka Marilyn Thornhill in Tim Burton’s Wednesday — which, according to her, is a completely different story compared to The Addams Family.

Just like for many fans of the comic book and all movies and shows based on it, for Ricci Wednesday comes more as some sort of a sequel to The Addams Family just because the show doesn’t replicate the plot but alters it for the modern audiences.

“It's a different character to the one I played. You know, I was playing a child. She's not playing a child really, more a teenager. I was playing, like, a nine-year-old …” Ricci once revealed in an interview with Digital Spy.

She also praised Ortega’s performance and said the latter has “such a great ability to play Wednesday” that she doesn’t really need any kind of advice from someone who owned the role before.

“I also just feel like 'What? Just because she's younger than me, she needs my insight?' She doesn't. She doesn't need anybody’s advice”, Ricci added.

Will Christina Ricci Return in ‘Wednesday’ Season 2?

Even though the actress’ character miraculously survived that brutal bee attack in Wednesday’s season 1 finale, it doesn’t seem like she’s getting another chance to do so this time.

In the show’s season 2 volume 1 last episode, Laurel Gates is seen sneaking out into the Willow Hill asylum where Tyler aka the Hyde is imprisoned, trying to console him with the fact that his “mother” returned.

However, Tyler doesn’t seem to be very pleased with such a visit, and Wednesday releasing all the outcasts later gives him an opportunity to bring him vengeance on Laurel that is now seemingly killed off.

What happens next is yet to see in Wednesday’s season 2 volume 2 that hits Netflix on September 3.
