No, it’s not Leonard.

Summary:

  • Young Sheldon is a CBS sitcom created as a prequel to another hit show, The Big Bang Theory.
  • The show focuses on the life of Sheldon Cooper's family in 90s Texas.
  • As the show is set to end on season 7, fans want to see Sheldon's grandfather make an appearance in one of the flashbacks.

When the news of Young Sheldon's production first hit the Internet, fans were not entirely sure about the idea. Of course, it was nice to know that the beloved universe of The Big Bang Theory would be extended and live on even after the main series came to an end, but following Sheldon Cooper as a child didn't sound like the most entertaining premise ever.

At that point, everyone already knew Sheldon's spoiled and selfish nature, and watching him grow into that kind of man wasn't something many viewers were interested in.

Fortunately, over the years, Young Sheldon proved to be a show about everyone but Sheldon. The show's focus was always on the simple life issues that a middle-class family from the middle of Texas would face in their daily lives, and slowly but surely it gained a fanbase as large as the original show.

Now, as Young Sheldon approaches its final season, fans know exactly who's missing from this messed-up yet relatable family dynamic.

What Happened To Sheldon’s Grandfather?

One of the most popular characters on the show is Meemaw, played by Annie Potts. Since Season 1, viewers have had the pleasure of watching her get into trouble and come to the rescue when she was needed the most. Her husband, however, was never in the picture.

As far as we know, Sheldon's grandfather, or Pop-Pop as he called him, died when he was just 5 years old. That doesn't mean he didn't have an impact on his grandson's life. On the contrary, he was the man who inspired Sheldon to get into science, as the adult Sheldon admitted in The Big Bang Theory episode The Santa Simulation (S6E11).

Now that the Young Sheldon audience has met every other person who has touched Sheldon's life in one way or another, the heartfelt flashback with Pop-Pop would be the best choice to wrap up the story, fans feel.

After all, finales are always about filling in the blanks, and the Young Sheldon writers have a perfect opportunity to do that.

Of course, the flashback might be a little tricky considering how Iain Armitage, the actor who portrays Sheldon on the show, has grown over the years, but we're sure there's nothing a good double and camera magic can't handle.

To see how young Sheldon's story ends, tune in to CBS on February 15 for the season 7 premiere episode. Keep an eye out for news and behind-the-scenes updates!
