10 Gossip Girl Soundtracks That Will Live in Your Playlist Rent Free

Perfect casting, compelling storylines, and never-ending drama are not all that this iconic series has to offer. What really makes it a standout is the music.
Since its debut in 2007, Gossip Girl has been more than just a show about the glamorous lives of Manhattan's elite teens. It's truly a cultural phenomenon that has changed the game for teen dramas, from its complex relationships to its iconic fashion choices. If you never watched it, the show’s streaming on Hulu, now is the best time to tune in.
One of the greatest aspects of Gossip Girl though has always been its music. The show's soundtracks were the perfect backdrop for the ongoing drama, capturing the essence of each episode, setting the tone and making jaw-dropping moments even more special.
So here are the top 10 Gossip Girl soundtracks that never left my playlist, even after the show ended.
I also put them all in one Apple Music playlist for you. Enjoy!
1. Young Folks by Peter Bjorn and John
When you think of Gossip Girl, you can't help but think of the song that opens the series with Serena's stunning arrival on the town scene. Young Folks by Peter Bjorn and John became the show's anthem. Its catchy whistling and upbeat rhythm perfectly matched the fast-paced, drama-filled life of the Upper East Side.
2. Time to Pretend by MGMT
Another gem of the show that everyone seems to hold onto is this song going through season 1. MGMT's indie hit with its upbeat vibes perfectly capture the characters' carefree attitude, while also hinting at the darker side of their world.
3. Stripper by Sohodolls
Episode 7 of the first season has one of my all-time favorite scenes in the show. Of course I’am talking about Blair’s dance at Chuck's club. This one.
4. With Me by Sum 41
The same episode features this amazing song as well, the one that was a discovery for many fans of the show. Just how iconic the scene in the club was, the following scene in the limo was equally legendary, but meant so much more for the show’s story.
5. Secret by The Pierces
This is the song that was playing at the Debutante Ball, where Blair dances with Carter. All while Chuck is waiting for her to finish in order to make his move, even though Blair was there to dance with Nate.
6. Crimewave by Crystal Castles
Nothing extra happened during this song in season 1, just Serena meets Georgina at a bar for cocktails after Georgina’s return. But it was the time I decided I am becoming a Crystal Castles fan.
7. Shove It by Santigold
There was a storyline in season 2 episode 4 that basically shows Serena being the queen of the school. And while this arc of hers only lasts about 1.5 minutes, it still manages to prove a point that Serena is absolutely capable of anything.
And of course, the scene with Dan has all the fans obsessed. That's when Santigold's Shove It shines.
8. Video Games by Lana Del Rey
Chuck’s apology to Blair in season 5 is really one of the most intense scenes in the entire show. And the music just makes it perfect.
“It was the best scene of the season in my opinion...the music was everything, the actors... and it really gives you a glimpse of his character development since you see that he is aware of ALL his mistakes and how he hurt her…” Redditor Herms_past97 said.
9. Cosmic Love by Florence + The Machine
In episode 14 of season 4, there's a scene where the iconic Florence and the Machine perform their song called Cosmic Love. I instantly fell in love with it, and for a long time I thought it was the original song, only to find out later that it was actually an acoustic version. It's so gentle that you can't help but shed tears while listening to the words of the song.
10. You've Got The Love by Florence + The Machine
And of course it’s impossible not to mention the series’ finale song, also performed by Florence and the Machine. The perfect ending that gives us hope.
