Are you ready to take another trip through time?

Time travel is one of the most common themes in sci-fi, used to dissect a wide variety of topics. Time travel stories can be about an ordinary person in extraordinary circumstances, or about the limits of our understanding of the universe.

If you finished the second season of Loki, but are still hungry for the strangest and craziest time paradoxes and distortions, then these five shows are for you.

1. The Time Traveler's Wife

Time travel doesn't always have to be about saving the world, right? Steven Moffat's show is a pleasant exception to the rule. Instead of saving the world, here is a love story that spans several decades.

The series follows Henry, a librarian with a rare genetic disorder that causes him to move through time uncontrollably. It does not allow him to live a normal life, but does not prevent from finding his love, Clare, who at the age of six met an older version of Henry who told her that they would marry in the future.

2. Timeless

The villain Garcia Flynn steals a time machine to destroy the US before it even begins to exist. To do this, he travels to key moments in the past and tries to kill certain people. He is followed by a historian, a military man and a scientist who try to prevent Flynn's crimes and return history to its normal course. But every action affects the future of the three heroes themselves.

A fantastic project by the creator of Supernatural, Eric Kripke, shows a well-twisted plot in which the paradoxes of time travel are revealed.

3. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

After the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Sarah Connor and her son John once again encounter Terminators from the future. One of them is sent to kill a kid, and the second, in the form of a woman, arrives to protect him. Together they make a time jump and try to destroy Skynet.

Absolutely all feature-length sequels to the second Terminator are considered failures. But the show, although shot quite simply, is much more entertaining than most of the films in the franchise. In addition, the role of Sarah Connor was played by Lena Headey.

4. 12 Monkeys

By the middle of the 21st century, a deadly virus had killed a significant portion of the population and driven the rest underground. Scientists know the first outbreak occurred in 2015. They decide to send James, a scavenger with a troubled past, back in time to find Patient Zero. For him, this should become atonement, and for the whole world – salvation.

The show is based on the plot of the movie of the same name starring Bruce Willis. However, the plot gradually diverges from the original: the characters travel to the past and the future, change history and even get involved in political affairs.

5. Dark

If you haven't seen this German masterpiece yet, you should just do it. However, it's not something to turn on for background noise: to figure out time jumps and family connections, viewers even draw special maps and graphs. But understanding all of the intertwined stories is so compelling that solving all of the mysteries will become a quest of its own.

The action takes place in the fictional German town of Winden, home to a nuclear power plant. Teenager Jonas has to deal with the suicide of his father. Meanwhile, children in the town mysteriously disappear, and Jonas gets involved in the secrets of the past and future.
