Some of the worst superhero movies in history performed better than "the best superhero movie of all time" at the box office.

These five, for instance, were called garbage and still beat The Flash!

5. X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)

The Last Stand is typically considered one of the worst X-Men entries of all time despite having a colossal budget: with $210M spent on production, it was the most expensive movie ever back in the day.

Despite the backlash from both critics and fans, The Last Stand still earned $460.4M globally, so it was even… Kind of.

4. Black Adam ( 2022)

Dwayne Johnson 's debut in the superhero movie genre, Black Adam was highly-anticipated but turned out to be a disappointment: everything from the script to VFX was widely criticized.

The movie didn't even break even as it managed to only collect $393.3M against the budget of $260M — but funnily enough, it's the best-performing DC movie of the last (almost) two years.

3. Fantastic Four ( 2005)

The first Fantastic Four movie was also Chris Evans 's first entry into the world of Marvel — prior to becoming Captain America, he was Human Torch.

The movie received a largely negative welcome and was cussed at by pretty much everyone…

…But it still turned quite a decent profit: with a budget of up to $100M and a global earning of $333.5M, you can't really complain, can you?

2. Batman & Robin (1997)

Now, get the irony: this movie had the same Batman as The Flash's finale — George Clooney, and it was received horribly, being called one of the worst movies ever.

The insane backlash canceled all possible sequels and no one dared touch the live-action Batman concept ever since until Christopher Nolan arrived on the stage.

And still, Batman & Robin performed better than The Flash, earning $238M against the budget of $160M!

1. Green Lantern (2011)

Before Ryan Reynolds became Deadpool with Marvel, he tried to be DC's Green Lantern — but it didn't quite go as planned.

The 2011 movie was received poorly, being criticized for, well, almost everything and the future plans were scrapped.

Green Lantern was one of the biggest flops ever, grossing just $220M against its $200M budget… And despite that, it still earned more than the "best superhero movie ever."
