Why is Ricken's book so interesting? And how was Helly's identity hinted at from the beginning?

Severance has become one of the most intriguing series of recent years. With each episode, the mysteries get more and more complicated, forcing you to keep track of all the details.

The show has a lot of clues and details, some of which are cleverly hidden. Here are some that you probably missed.

1. Hell Is Mentioned a Lot in the Series

In Severance there are several ironic references to how terrible the innies' life is. The word Hell sometimes appears in the frame.

This is done implicitly, just sometimes blocking the letters in the word Hello or Helly. And the first episode of the series is literally called Good News About Hell.

2. The Characters Literally Have No Escape

At work, the Macrodata Refinement division employees use unusual keyboards with a limited number of keys. Viewers have specifically noted that there is also no Escape key – that is, the characters have no escape from the office.

3. Helly's True Identity Was Hinted at From the Beginning

The finale of the first season was a surprising twist. It turned out that Helly's outie was the daughter of the director of Lumon. She chose to work in the Macrodata Refinement division to tell her story later.

But if you watch the first season a second time, you can see that the creators literally hinted at her true identity from the beginning.

In Season 1 Episode 2, before the procedure, Lumon security officer Seth Milchick tells Helly about the favorite breakfast of the company's founder, Kier Eagan. To which the woman replies: I've heard.

4. The Series Hints at the End of Lumon

In Episode 8, the corporation's employees prepare for a big presentation and hang up a sign that says Welcome, friends of Lumon.

However, some of the words are covered up for a while. And it turns out to be Сome Ends of Lumon – as if hinting at the company's collapse. In the next episode, the four innies decide to sabotage.

5. The Location of the Characters Is Not So Obvious

The series is clearly set somewhere in the US, but the writers do not name a specific location. Writer Dan Erickson was born in Olympia, Washington. There are several easter eggs in the series that link the plot to this place.

The last name of the founder of Lumon is Eagan, a reference to the popular diner in the area, Eagan's Drive In. Dylan focuses on completing the Tumwater file, which is the name of a town south of Olympia. And Irving finds Burt on Gull Harbor Road, a real street in the writer's hometown.

6. The Book The You You Are Is Almost Real

One of the important elements of Severance Season 1 is the book The You You Are. It was written by Ricken, the husband of Mark's sister. The people around him treat it with irony. But a copy is found within the walls of Lumon, where all things from the outside world are forbidden.

The book is almost real. Screenwriter Dan Erickson wrote about 50 pages of this work. The pages contain not only biblical references, but also mentions of children's prisons and other creepy concepts.
