After 'Fair Play' $20M Breakout, Chloe Domont’s Next Film Is Coming — But When?

Michelle Williams and Daisy Edgar-Jones lead the cast.
Following the buzz of Fair Play, Chloe Domont’s next project is officially on the way — though we still don’t know exactly when it will arrive in cinemas. Neon has acquired U.S. rights to A Place in Hell, a workplace thriller set in the high-stakes world of criminal law.
The film, now completed, stars Michelle Williams and Daisy Edgar-Jones as two women navigating power, loyalty and ambition inside a top legal firm. Andrew Scott also features, rounding out a cast that’s hard not to get excited about.
If Domont’s name rings a bell, it’s likely because her 2023 debut Fair Play caused a stir at Sundance and sold to Netflix for a jaw-dropping $20 million. That film dissected the dynamics of romance and rivalry inside a hedge fund. With A Place in Hell, she seems to be continuing her exploration of professional pressure and personal boundaries — just swapping finance for law. Once again, Domont writes and directs, with backing from Neon, MRC, Republic Pictures, and Rian Johnson’s T-Street, which also supported her debut.
Neon, meanwhile, is very much in its moment. Fresh off an Oscar win for Anora and riding the wave of its sixth consecutive Palme d’Or acquisition, the indie distributor clearly sees Domont as a rising voice worth betting on. Filming has wrapped in New Jersey, so the film is officially in the can. Now all that’s left is the wait — and if Domont’s past is anything to go by, it might just be worth it.
