For the MCU fans, the moment when everyone forgets Peter Parker at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home under a memory spell has become one of the most heartbreaking moments in the franchise.

However, the new trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania clearly shows that fans have nothing to worry about. Spider-Man is not forgotten in the MCU.

Besides flashing an exciting multiverse plot and introducing the character of Kang – who has previously played a major role in Disney+ 's Loki – to the big screen, the trailer features a lot of signature humor, including a brief exchange between Ant-Man and a barista in a coffee shop.

As Scott Lang exits the coffee shop, the character played by Ruben Rabasa says "Thank you, Spider-Man!" and everyone around seems to finally remember who they have broken coffee with.

While being very funny, the scene raises a host of questions. Why do they mention Spider-Man? Isn't he forgotten? Did the memory spell work? Is it the trailer's failure? Is it a hint?

Wakanda Forever Plot Leak Makes Namor Marvel's Dumbest Villain

Well, this short line might be an Easter egg cleverly hidden by the MCU creators. Yes, the audience knows that at the end of No Way Home, Doctor Strange had to cast a memory spell that made everyone – from fans to friends – forget Peter Parker's identity.

And the spell did work since we see no one remembering Peter after the spell was cast. But it was never explained how exactly it worked.

Should it have wiped all memories about Spider-Man or just Peter Parker? The second one seems more plausible since No Way Home's epilogue shows J. Jonah Jameson still reporting on Spider-Man after the spell was cast. Besides, when Peter meets Happy Hogan at Aunt May's grave, Hogan says he knew May through Spider-Man.

All this suggests that the spell made everyone forget Peter Parker, not Spider-Man, who still exists as an anonymous superhero. More than that, at the end of No Way Home Peter clearly returns to his good old neighborhood Spider-Man duties, which is bound to make him famous again even if Spider-Man has been forgotten.

Looks like while fans are waiting for Spider-Man 4 which is reportedly eyeing the 2024 release, the MCU creators fuel their interest with clever Easter eggs like the one hidden in plain sight in the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer.
