The horror-ish flick with a star-studded cast is getting a second life on Netflix.
With a bunch of new movies released in the past couple of days, Netflix is also leaving some space for old films that regain their popularity years after the initial release, and many of the streaming’s users seem to be quite nostalgic recently.
Following Amy Schumer’s new comedy Kinda Pregnant which is currently leading Netflix’s US top-10, a 3-year-old thriller movie with Anya Taylor-Joy is suddenly a popular watch this week too.
Released to universal acclaim, the flick in question was a shocking experience back in the day, and right now some might have felt a need to relive it.
The Menu Is Trending on Netflix 3 Years After Theatrical Release
According to FlixPatrol, the hit movie is currently sitting on the 2nd place in Netflix’s US top chart, dethroned only by the streaming’s latest long-awaited release Kinda Pregnant and followed by two action flicks, with one of them being Netflix’s previous darling Back in Action.
Starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Nicholas Hoult and Ralph Fiennes, The Menu is a creepy story following foodie Tyler Ledford and his date Margot Mills’ trip to an isolated island where they will have an exquisite dinner served by famous top chef Julian Slowik.
However, the posh event soon turns into its guests’ worst nightmare when the chef starts unveiling some shocking surprises he prepared alongside the lavish food.
The Menu Had a Great Success Before Moving to Streaming
Despite being a quite controversial cinematic experience, The Menu garnered all possible love and acclaim from critics and viewers.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie still holds scores of 88% and 76% respectively, also having become a box office hit back in the day with almost $80 million earned against the budget of $30 million.
Additionally, the film even made it to a couple of Golden Globe nominations for Best Actor and Best Actress for Fiennes and Taylor-Joy respectively, though eventually left the awards season without major wins.
