Best Police Comedy (And Its Sequel) Comes to Hulu in April

Two cops, one high school, zero brain cells. Yet somehow it all adds up. And the sequel is even better.
It's only been a couple of years since I've really given comedies a chance. I used to avoid them at all costs, thinking they were all about cheap laughs and predictable jokes. But boy was I wrong. Now, after a long day, comedies are the only content that I'm willing to watch. It's now my go-to comfort genre, especially when I need a mental break from reality.
Speaking of comfort comedies, Hulu will get a lot richer this April as two of my favorite buddy cop comedies are added to the streaming platform.
This franchise has been living rent-free in my head for some time now, and I'm still holding out hope for another installment (though it's been 11 years since the last movie).
21 Jump Street (2012): The Ultimate Undercover Mission
21 Jump Street takes two hilariously mismatched cops, throws them back into high school as undercover agents, and watches chaos ensue.
Officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) are tasked with infiltrating a high school to bust a drug ring. But between trying to figure out what's “cool” in the 2010s and actually solving a crime, they find themselves reliving (and actually rewriting) their own high school experiences.
The thing about this movie is that it doesn't waste a single second. Once you're in it, there's no way out. Also, Tatum and Hill's chemistry is absolutely unmatched. These two somehow manage to make even the most absurd situations feel genuine.
22 Jump Street (2014) Is the Sequel That Hits Even Harder
And if you thought the first movie was hilarious, wait till you watch the sequel.
This time, our favorite cops head to college, and somehow it works even better. The film acknowledges that it's a sequel. It embraces it, pokes fun at it, and then proceeds to outdo its predecessor. And I seriously have no idea how they've pulled it off, but they did it.
The college setting provides a new territory for jokes, but it's the evolution of Schmidt and Jenko's bromance that really sells it. They are both trying to navigate growing up while simultaneously being terrible at their jobs (in the most entertaining way possible, of course).
So if you haven't watched 21 Jump Street and its sequel 22 Jump Street yet, this is your chance to do so. And what's a better day to watch these than April Fools’? The franchise is coming to Hulu this April 1st.
