Better Than Your Favorite Thai Spot: The Secret to Making Authentic Pad Thai at Home in 30 Minutes
One of the best Asian dishes is way easier to make at home than you could have ever thought.
It’s no doubt the Asian cuisine is one of the top choices when it comes to trying something exotic and exquisite that doesn’t belong to our own culture, so it’s not surprising to see many people try to cook Asian dishes at home.
Despite looking complicated, most of them can actually be made in just half an hour, including the famous Pad Thai. Just try this recipe once, and your family will be asking for a dinner like this again and again.
Ingredients: 200 g of rice noodles, 300 g of chicken breast, shrimp, or tofu, 2 eggs, 1 small carrot, 100 g of bean sprouts, 2 cloves of garlic, 3 tbsp of peanuts, 2 tbsp of fish sauce, 2 tbsp of soy sauce, 1 tbsp of tamarind paste, 1 tsp of sugar, 1 tsp of chili paste (to taste), 2 tbsp of vegetable oil, 1 lime for serving, cilantro and green onions for garnish.
Soak the noodles in warm water for 15 minutes, then drain in a colander. Cut the chicken breast or shrimp into small pieces. Mince the garlic and cut the carrots into thin strips. Lightly toast the nuts in a dry skillet and chop them.
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet and fry the garlic until fragrant. Add the chicken or shrimp and cook for 5 minutes until done. Push the meat to one side, crack the eggs into the pan, and stir quickly.
Add the noodles, carrots, and bean sprouts to the skillet.
Pour in the sauces, tamarind, sugar, and chili paste. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes over medium heat.
Place the pad thai on a plate, sprinkle with nuts and herbs. Serve with lime slices – squeeze the juice over the dish just before eating.
