Bridgerton's Regé-Jean Page Will Star in a New Period Drama, and We Can’t Wait

The actor is headed back to the 19th century to become a part of the most iconic period drama of all time.
When Bridgerton first came out on Netflix, it became an instant hit. And of course, the main reason was probably the show's compelling storylines, the blend of historical and personal drama, and the mix of modern and period visuals with perfect soundtracks of the same style.
But there's no denying that part of the worldwide appeal of the show was its perfect cast.
There are not many shows where every character is played by incredibly beautiful women or handsome men, but Bridgerton is the perfect example of exactly that. The first season's main couple, Daphne and Simon, became absolute fan favorites, and viewers couldn't talk enough about how perfectly cast they were for a period drama.
Well, now it seems that Regé-Jean Page, who was so amazing as Duke Simon Basset in Bridgerton, is headed back in time again, as the news about him being cast in another period drama invaded the Internet recently.
It seems that the actor is set to star in a new adaptation of Alexandre Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo. And according to Deadline, Page will also serve as the film’s producer. It was established that the new project comes from Department M, the independent production studio founded by producers Mike Larocca and Michael Schaefer.
As we know, the story in Alexandre Dumas' epic is about a young sailor who was falsely accused of treason. After spending years in prison, he escapes and seeks revenge on those who wronged him, eventually becoming the wealthy Count of Monte Cristo. Hollywood is no stranger to adaptations of this story by Duma, but the one with Page promises to be something else.
For the actor, this project is the first in which he will play the lead role in a feature film, and it gives him the best opportunity to show the world once again his acting skills and the magnetic charisma that launched his career after Bridgerton.
Regé-Jean Page's adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo is in development now with no release date being announced yet.
