Вon’t expect much interaction between Robert Pattinson and The Penguin’s star anyway. Here's what you really need to know.

Matt Reeves’ sequel for 2022’s superhero hit The Batman isn’t coming to the big screens until October of 2027, but at least it might be time for more production details to get into the media ahead of the filming start.

Initially set to be released sometime this year and since then having gone through several major delays, The Batman II will be arriving much later than the spinoff TV series The Penguin released around a year ago, though there’s still some place for Colin Farrell’s villain in Reeves’ script.

However, this might not be just as exciting for The Penguin’s fans.

Colin Farrell Is Sure ‘The Batman II’ Script Is “Something Special”, but Doesn’t Think He Has Many Scenes

Now that the spinoff series is about to wrap its story with some possible wins at the upcoming Emmy ceremony, Farrell will be coming into the new story about Robert Pattinson’s Batman, though he doesn’t even know yet how frequently he will show up there.

“I'll be getting into the script, I think, this week, and I'll be there for however long. I don't have many scenes, I don't believe, but I'll be there for whatever”, the actor said in an interview with TheWrap while talking about The Penguin’s whopping amount of 24 Emmy nominations.

As for what the future movie will be like, Farrell has full trust in Matt Reeves who, according to the actor, is “so meticulous” and “cares so deeply about what he does”.

“Matt Reeves is so brilliant. I don't know what the story is yet. I just know that obviously Matt has slaved for a few years now to really make something special. And he holds a very high bar for himself”, Farrell stated.

James Gunn Defended Matt Reeves Amidst ‘Batman II’ Screenplay Delay

Since The Batman’s fans felt like they’d been waiting forever after the first movie was released more than three years ago, Reeves’ social media accounts once got flooded by angry messages about him being not so much on time for the long-promised sequel.

The wave of hatred reached the hearing of DC’s boss James Gunn who slammed the audiences for demanding something they weren’t actually guaranteed.

“People should get off Matt’s nuts because it’s like, let the guy write the screenplay in the amount of time he needs to write it”, Gunn ranted in an interview with Entertainment Weekly back in June.

Besides, Superman’s director reminded everyone that the whole thing is actually happening thanks to Reeves, so fans should be thankful that the latter is still determined to helm the sequel.

“That’s just the way it is. He doesn’t owe you something because you like his movie. I mean, you like his movie because of Matt. So let Matt do things the way he does”, Gunn added.

For now, The Batman II’s script is confirmed to be completed, with the movie itself coming to theatres worldwide on October 1, 2027.
