If someone can find out Doctor Who exactly, it’s her.

Summary:

  • Doctor Who has stepped into a production of series 15, which will star Ncuti Gatwa as the 15th Doctor.
  • Nicola Coughlan, the actress known for her roles in Derry Girls and Bridgerton, was spotted on the filming set.
  • Now the appearance of Nicola Coughlan is officially confirmed by the showrunner Russel T. Davies.

There is nothing like seeing your favorite shows cross over in the least expected way. Just as we would gasp to see the Doctor enter one of Bridgerton's balls, the web was abuzz with excitement when the insiders started spreading the word that Nicola Coughlan had been spotted on the set of Doctor Who.

Although the actress had previously denied her involvement with Doctor Who, this was either a clever ploy or simply a change of events. Now that the showrunner of the iconic 60-year-old sci-fi series has confirmed Nicola Coughlan's involvement, there's nothing left to do but anticipate her appearance.

Don't get too excited, though, gentle reader. As happy as we all are to see such a wonderful addition to the cast, the viewers will have to wait and see how the story unfolds. Coughlan's character is set to appear in the Christmas special... next year.

The news was revealed by Russel T. Davies himself during the Q&A session following the screening of the first of three 60th anniversary specials, The Star Beast. Although Whovians will have to wait to see the actress enter the Doctor Who universe, they won't be bored this Christmas either.

For Christmas 2023, Davies teased a big introduction for Ncuti Gatwa's 15th Doctor and his new companion Ruby Sunday, played by Millie Gibson.

What is clear is that with the relaunch and the move to Disney Plus, the Doctor Who universe will be able to introduce even more guest stars into the storyline. From what we already know about the 60th anniversary specials and the upcoming Series 14, there will be quite a few people appearing.

Neil Patrick Harris will appear as the special's main antagonist, the Toymaker, who fans can already see in the official trailer. Series 14 will also feature celebrities such as BAFTA winner Lenny Rush, RuPaul's Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon, and theater and television actor Jonathan Groff.

Each of the above names has already been confirmed by the official Doctor Who social media accounts. However, many Whovians feel that the return of Russell T. Davies may bring even more surprises that are currently hidden from the public.

Be sure to tune in to Disney Plus on November 25, December 2 and December 9 to catch the 60th anniversary specials starring David Tennant as the 14th Doctor. Stay tuned to find out more about the upcoming series and the special guests the show may bring!
