Fact: How Titanic’s Crew Ended Up Seeing Purple People (No, Seriously)

And that’s not even the weirdest thing that happened that night.

I thought I knew everything about Titanic. Honestly, how many times can you hear about the iceberg, the diamond, the door, and that iconic "I’m the king of the world" shout?

But then I stumbled across a story that genuinely surprised me — one that could easily be its own movie plot.

So, get this: during the night shoots in Canada, right at the start of filming Titanic, someone went and spiked the cast and crew’s food with a hallucinogen.

A proper hardcore one called PCP — a drug that causes intense psychosis and, according to eyewitnesses, made people see "purple people."

Over 80 people were affected. Including, believe it or not, James Cameron himself — yes, the captain of the ship took a trip, but not the kind you’d want.

They literally had to wheel him out on a stretcher, but not before he reportedly scribbled on a piece of paper something like "You are so f**ed" directed at whoever did it.

People were running around the hospital, some laughing uncontrollably, others crying, and some just completely confused about where they were. One crew member said they saw someone’s face literally melting. Sounds like a nightmare trip — and that’s exactly what it was.

What really got me? They never found the culprit. No arrests, no confessions, no official conclusions. It was chalked up as "an incident" and filming carried on as if nothing had happened.

Since then, I’ve never quite watched Titanic the same way. The scenes seem a bit more psychedelic, especially when the ship’s sinking and everyone’s running around the deck. Now I know they were running around the set once — just for a very different reason.

Who do you think was behind spiking the food on the Titanic set?
