Released on Netflix just a couple of days ago, a new show starring Vicent Cassel and Monica Bellucci’s daughter Deva Cassel might be a long-awaited watch for those who have been desperate to see more stories like the British hit drama Downton Abbey or the American regency romance Bridgerton.

The Leopard Is a New Hit Period Drama on Netflix
Based on Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s 1958 novel of the same name, The Leopard comes as the second adaptation of the book after the movie released back in 1963.
Starring Kim Rossi Stuart, Deva Cassel and Saul Nanni, the new show follows the Prince of Salina and his family living in Sicily at the time when Italy is shaken by a historic social upheaval.
The series was released to wider audiences on March 5, but before that collected some favorable reviews from critics who praised The Leopard’s pleasant visuals, the cast’s performances and the right approach to the story put into a TV format in a correct way.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the show doesn’t have the audience score yet, but holds 67% of positive reviews from critics.
The Leopard’s Movie Adaptation Is Also Worth Watching
Netflix’s brand new series might be a visually stunning cinematic experience, but those who have already binge-watched The Leopard’s entire first season might also want to check another adaptation out.
The 1963 epic historical drama, also based on the same novel, is helmed by one of the greatest Italian directors Luchino Visconti and, what’s even more exciting, stars young Alain Delon as the Prince’s opportunistic nephew Tancredi.
The movie received universal acclaim and is currently holding 98% and 89% from critics and audiences respectively on Rotten Tomatoes.
