The last trip of Dominic Toretto and his family is already in active development.
The iconic racing saga starring Vin Diesel continues – work has already begun on the eleventh installment of the Fast & Furious franchise. Fast Forever will conclude the main saga of Dominic and his family.
Originally planned for release in 2024, the final release date has been repeatedly pushed back due to production difficulties, writers' strikes, and budget disagreements between the studio and Vin Diesel.
Here's everything we know about the finale of one of the highest-grossing franchises in cinematic history.
When Will 'Fast Forever' Be Released?

Fast Forever is scheduled for release on March 17, 2028.
The movie was originally planned for February 2024, a year after the premiere of the tenth installment. It was then pushed back to April 4, 2025. However, due to the Hollywood writers' strike, the release date was pushed back again, this time to April 2026, in order to release the final film in time for the franchise's 25th anniversary.
However, the release date was pushed back again to April 2027. In late January 2026, the official title and new release date were announced.
In 2025, meanwhile, there were reports that the project could be canceled altogether due to budget disagreements between Universal and Vin Diesel. The tenth installment cost $340 million to produce and barely broke even with a box office gross of $705 million.
The studio demanded a budget reduction of $140-$200 million. By the end of 2025, the parties had reached an agreement, and production began.
What Will 'Fast Forever' Be About?

Although plot details for Fast Forever are being kept under wraps, it's certain that the movie's events will be a direct continuation of the tenth installment.
As Vin Diesel explained, Universal Pictures decided to split the finale into two parts early in the development of Fast X. Director Louis Leterrier noted:
“We needed to understand where we're ending in order to create the road to it. So on top of everything that we had to do, we had to decide, ‘This is where this franchise is going to end. It has to end this way.’ Yes, yes, yes. Everybody agreed. Shook hands. And then we went back to work.”
It's also known that Brian O'Conner, played by the late Paul Walker, will appear in the new movie. His return to the screen will be possible thanks to digital technology and his brothers, Caleb and Cody.
Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Momoa, Charlize Theron, John Cena, and possibly Dwayne Johnson are expected to reprise their roles.
