Could Dominique Toretto drive so fast that he travels back in time? We will probably have a chance to find out in the upcoming Fast X movie.

With all the crazy tricks the creators of the Fast & Furious franchise have shown us before, time travel doesn't longer seem like a wild fan theory. The cars have been everywhere and done everything during the nine movies of the franchise. Cars landed on a yacht, were chased by fast – and obviously furious – tanks, jumped out of a plane, flew between two skyscrapers, and even were sent into space. But could a car time travel?

After Vin Diesel shared a look at Toretto's 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, which was one of the main Toretto's vehicles in the fourth movie, and confirmed that the car will return in Fast X, the likelihood of time travel to earlier films has risen. Such a move would make loads of long-lost viewers return to the theaters just to see how crazy it can get.

Actually, the Fast & Furious time travel fan theory has been on the internet for some time now along with other wild and interesting theories produced by the creative mind of Fast & Furious fans, from interdimensional travel where every Toretto is played by Vin Diesel in a different tank top to a race with dinosaurs in a Jurassic World crossover. Fans even made trailers for a Fast & Furious time travel movie. But again, space travel has also been a fan theory before, and look how that worked out.

Jokes aside, could the upcoming sequel to F9 really be a time-travel film? Well, this is highly unlikely. Chances are, the famous muscle car will rather be used for flashbacks with a different perspective of beloved characters. We will probably be able to learn about Toretto's early years, his family, and his background. With Rita Moreno being added to the cast of the tenth main installment in the Fast & Furious franchise as Dominic Toretto's grandmother, such a probability seems more than likely. Who knows, we might even get a chance to see the iconic car in another epic race.

Another heartwarming theory is that Dominic will restore the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS for his son, thus passing the baton on. This would definitely make many fans' hearts melt.

Fast X is set to premiere May 19, 2023.
