Everything you’re looking for has already been done.

Even though there are a lot of people who claim to love the older sitcoms, most of the time it turns out that they are talking about either Friends, Scrubs or How I Met Your Mother, and although these TV shows are all very funny and make for great entertainment, there is much more to explore within the genre.

If you are looking for a family based show with a strong focus on the characters' personalities, conflicts and relationships that they have, look no further. A perfect sitcom for you was already produced by ABC in 1997.

Is Dharma & Greg Worth Watching?

Created by Chuck Lorre, known to many today for The Big Bang Theory and its prequel Young Sheldon, and Dottie Dartalnd, Dharma & Greg is one of those late 90s sitcoms that everyone seems to have completely forgotten about, despite its great quality and evergreen plot.

The sitcom follows the couple of Dharma, a free-spirited yoga instructor and dog trainer raised by former hippies, and Greg, an uptight workaholic lawyer. Despite their obvious differences in upbringing and personality, the two are so smitten with each other on their first date that they decide to get married right away.

The show is a perfectly balanced sitcom that shows the struggles a young couple could go through in the 90s, as well as all the pressures of society that landed on their shoulders.

Besides the duo of polar opposites, coming together to build a family and dealing with all of their differences rings a bell for all the Young Sheldon viewers who fell in love with Mary and George Coopers. Dharma & Greg are, of course, very different from the Coopers, but there is a similar sense of humor shared by all, thanks to Chuck Lorre's involvement.

The first season of Dharma & Greg has a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, proving that it has been unfairly overlooked and forgotten. For those who were young adults learning to navigate life in the late 90s and early 00s, the sitcom will be nostalgic. For others, it will be purely hilarious and a little educational. Either way, it will be a good time.
