Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage season 3 release date: CBS hands TV's #1 comedy the job of opening Premiere Week
CBS gets exactly one shot a year at launching its comedy lineup, and this fall the network is handing the keys to the youngest member of the Sheldon Cooper extended universe.
The network's own premiere-week announcement flat-out calls Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage "television's #1 comedy" — and when you have the thing everyone's watching, you put it at the front of the parade. The date is locked, the slot is prime, and the season it's launching has real trouble on the menu.
The marriage part of First Marriage is doing some work
If season 2 taught us anything, it's that the title of this show is load-bearing. Montana Jordan has been pretty upfront about where the cracks are forming.
"Right now, he's so focused on getting this business off the ground that maybe he puts his family and his relationship aside, and eventually, that's going to catch up to him," Jordan said.
"Eventually, that's going to catch up to him" is the most ominous thing you can say about a character whose marriage's ending has technically been canon since The Big Bang Theory. Season 3 has places to go, is what I'm saying.
Meanwhile, Meemaw
The other big reason to show up: Annie Potts is back.
"She is back on the show and she's back into the Meemaw character, causing hell and raising hell," Jordan said. "But it's always lovely to have her back on set."
Causing hell and raising hell. That's two separate hells. Emily Osment, Rachel Bay Jones, and Will Sasso all return as well, live studio audience and all — because if you're going to be television's #1 comedy, you might as well do it the old-fashioned way, with people laughing at you in the room.

OK, so when does season 3 actually premiere?
Thursday, October 8, at 8/7c — first comedy out of the gate in CBS's Premiere Week, which kicks off that Sunday. And Georgie isn't just coming back; he's being used as a battering ram to launch two brand-new shows:
- 8:00 pm — Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, season 3
- 8:30 pm — Eternally Yours, series premiere (godspeed, little show, you have the best lead-in on network TV)
- 9:00 pm — Elsbeth, season 4
- 10:00 pm — Cupertino, series premiere
The comedy side of Premiere Week starts and ends with Georgie. No pressure, buddy. Nice haircut, though.
